BASH EXIT TROPHY
With Bashley still struggling with injuries o key players and unavailability
overturning Mangotsfield United was going to be a hard job to win through to the
next round of the FA Trophy. In truth Bashley were competitive in the first half of
the match, a smile was raised with an Aaron Dunne goal on 82 minutes and a
quote from Stefan Williams to the referee "He fell in front of me ref!" raised a few
chuckles around the stand. 2-0 down at half time again left some optimism in the
camp but risks were needed to be taken. 4 more goals in the second half
dumped Bashley out of another Cup competition with the final score 6-1.
The first 10 minutes was tentative from both sides, Lewis Powell blast a shot
over the Bash bar to show their intent. Just 5 minutes later a powerful shot was
deflected only as far as Scott Brice who somehow managed to slam the ball
past several bodies into the top right. 3 minutes later Ollie Dennett chipped
Kieran Preston in the box only for the Mangotsfield defence to just clear what
could have been an equaliser.
A great save from Tom Robinson in the Bash goal with his feet from a Powell
close range effort after he slipped the Bash defence on 24 minutes. Goal number
2 for Brice came on 36 minutes heading past Robinson who had no chance,
sending Bash 2-0 down at half time.
Steve Davies latched onto a ball laid in from the right who had an easy finish to
go 3 up on 52 minutes. Dennett had another chance on 71 minutes with a shot
from just outside the box going just over the top left of the goal. 6 minutes later
Brice grabbed a hat-trick, followed by Powell finding the net on 80 minutes.
Aaron Dunne grabbed a well taken consolation for Bash on 82 minutes but Karim
Rendell slotted home on 90 minutes to give a result of a 6-1 defeat for the Bash.
